The Parish community of St. James and St. Winefride lies at the heart of Bootle. It opened as far back as 1845 to help Bootle Catholics worship locally and enable them to get to Mass without having to walk all the way to St. Anthony’s on Scotland Road, Liverpool

Today we are in the care of the Salesian family, with strong support from the Sisters of Maria Auxiliatrice.

All members of our parish community are valued and their contributions welcomed. However, following the example and inspiration of St. John Bosco, we place young people at the centre of our prayer and work.

We are a community that welcomes all!

ABOUT US

We, the Salesians of Don Bosco, are an international organization of men dedicated full time to the service of young people, especially those who are poorer and disadvantaged.

Wherever we work, ‘Youth Resource Development’ through education and evangelization is the focus of all our concern - because we believe that our total dedication to the young is our best gift to humanity.

Founded by St. John Bosco, an Italian saint-educator of the nineteenth century, we are in 128 different nations.

The official website of our international community at www.sdb.org will give you a glimpse into what we do, how we do it and why we believe that what we do is worth living and dying for.

Journeying with the young…be a part of the adventure!

Building a strong future, in Bootle, based on firm foundations.
