We are the parish that serve the part of the famous docklands of Bootle; our place of worship is

St James, Chesnut Grove.

The parish is part of the Archdiocese of Liverpool, in the care of the Salesians of Don Bosco, with the support of the Sisters of Maria Auxiliatrice.

As from 1st March 2008, the Church and buildings at St Winefride's, Oriel Rd come under the direct control of the Archdiocese of Liverpool.

The Garden of Remembrance will receive special care and attention.

As from 3rd January 2010, St Joan of Arc's parish will close down-we thank Fr Michael DeFelice and the entire parish family at St Joan's for being such good 'neighbours'. We offer a hand of friendship and welcome to anyone who would like to worship with us at St James' A statue of St Joan of Arc will be placed in St James' Church alongside the statue of St Winefride.
